The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is a Japanese animated series that caused a stir when, at the start of its second season, it aired basically the same episode eight times in a row. The ‘Endless Eight’ saga involves the main characters of the show looping the last two weeks of Summer break thousands of times, stuck in an existential nightmare. The show literally repeats the same dialogue and action for over 160 minutes of total runtime until we, the audience, are as stressed out as the characters… It is truly unique.
