In this first episode I introduce you to the film, A Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), and talk about it’s long and winding history. This includes Tim Burton’s history with the company, which goes all the way back to being an animation student at CalArts. Nightmare is a film that almost never got made, something Burton dreamt up whilst unhappily employed at Disney, before getting fired… Then, miraculously, he got to make his dream project. It’s production journey is long and fascinating, and the film itself is a unique classic that rewards a keen watcher.
